Dunja Knebl & Kololira revive and reinterpret ancient traditional folk songs from Croatia in a specific style that has won them many fans in Croatia and abroad.
Their repertoire is unusual because it consists of nearly forgotten songs from old songbooks, and they have arrangements for some not very typical instruments such as the Indian harmonium, bouzouki, frame, cahon, hurdy gurdy, combined with the more common ones such as the violin, accordion, recorder, guitar, and various small percussion.
Their first album “Tamo doli” was in the WMCE (World Music Charts Europe) for two months (in 2014). Among the many excellent reviews of the album was the one in Songlines magazine, and an article about Dunja Knebl and her work was published in the fRoots world music magazine the same year.
