LegendArt – the creative space for children’s imagination!

LegendArt is the new project of Association Val kulture (Wave of culture) that began in 2015 specifically targeting the audience of primary school students from first to sixth grade. The aim of this project is to awaken children’s imagination and, through creative work, make them familiar with the importance of nurturing the rich Croatian intangible heritage, culture and traditions.

By participating in LegendArt, students can express their creativity through the Croatian language and literature as well as the visual art and music. Together with their teachers, students create their literary and artistic works on the theme of legends, myths and stories of their county, and therefore revive and preserve the rich intangible heritage of their region.

Also, the project aims to provide primary school students with the opportunity to be actively involved in educational and art workshops at the festival LegendFest and to exhibit the best student works at the festival and on our web site.

It is our intention to involve a greater number of schools in the coming years, and not only through the visual art, but to also include musical art and Croatian language and literature.

Our desire is that LegendArt evolves to become a regular project of LegendFest and a space in which children can create, learn, have fun, and of course, continue developing their imagination!

Primary school applications for participation in LegendArt 2017

We are inviting primary schools of Istria and Šibenik-Knin counties to participate in LegendArt through which our youngest can contribute to the revival of legends, myths and stories from their region.

Schools conduct independent selection of the classes that wish to take part in the competition (from first to sixth grade). After registering, teachers conduct workshops in selected subjects (art, music, Croatian language) and choose the best artistic works which are then delivered by mail or courier to the Association Val kulture (Wave of culture).

Professional LegendArt and LegendFest jury will then choose the best art work which will be exhibited at festivals in each of these counties. The best authors will be awarded special prizes at LegendFest, where they will find out if they are elected.

We invite you to register your school for the competition and come to the LegendFest and support the project, imagination and creativity of your students!
