LegendArt 2017 has ended

For the third year in a row, we continue with the LegendArt project in Istrian and Šibenik-Knin counties where LegendFest is held. This year, 130 art and literary works of students from total of 14 schools have been submitted for the competition, allowing the students to creatively express their vision of the characters, stories and myths of their region. We are particularly pleased that students of Zadar and Osijek-Baranja County joined us with their artwork as well.

Art works of school students from Šibenik-Knin County, based on the theme of Fairies and Fairy Creatures, were exhibited at City Library ‘Juraj Šižgorić’ in Šibenik from the 4th to 15th of July 2017. Awards for the best art works were presented at LegendFest festival at Roški slap on the 8th and 9th of July 2017.

Art works of school students from Istria County, based on the theme of Nightmares and Dreams, were exhibited at LegendFest in Pićan in the cute outdoor gallery on the 29th and 30th of July 2017.

We would like to use this opportunity to thank all the primary school students that participated in the competition as well as all the principals, teachers and others who encouraged their students to create beautiful art about Croatian tangible and intangible heritage. Also, a big thank you to our associates Tihana Lukež from Municipality of Pićan, and Suzana Grubić and Zdenka Bilušić from the City Library ‘Juraj Šižgorić’ who helped so much with the organisation of LegendArt.

Of course, many thanks to the members of the jury who, from a multitude of works, really did not find it easy to distinguish the most interesting.

We would also like to thank the sponsors of LegendArt 2017 in Šibenik Knin County, EVN Croatia Plin, an energy supply and gas distribution company that helped financially through the tendering and rewarding of children’s works.

And last, but not least, thanks to Goran Čučković, the author of the project ‘Angelo the dragon helps children’ who participated in the literary part of the competition as a main jury member and rewarded the best literary works with his special picture books designed to help children in hospitals, and cups with the motifs of the characters from his picture books.

All children’s artwork can be viewed here.
