LegendExpo in Skradin – introduction to LegendFest in NP Krka
LegendExpo – exhibition of original artwork by renowned Croatian illustrators and creators of LegendFest visual identities has moved from the old town of Lukavec and continental Croatia to Skradin where the exhibition was held in the administrative building of the Public Institute of Krka National Park.
The exhibition was officially opened on Monday, the 13th of June, 2016 at 11AM by the director of the Public Institute of Krka National Park, Krešimir Šakić and the president of the Association Val kulture (Wave of culture). This was an opportunity to present to the public the joint collaboration between the Public institute of Krka NP and the Association Val kulture – Zagreb in the organization of this year’s first LegendFest in Šibenik-Knin County at the Roški slap (Roski Waterfall) on the 9th and 10th of July 2016.
The press conference was also held on the opening day to promote the concept and program of LegendFest, as well as the collaboration of the organizers.
“The primal beauty of the Krka River and the wealth of tradition have enriched this area in which we live, and which we, as an Institute, care for. The mystical landscape and diversity of cultures that have been encountered in this area have given rise to numerous stories, legends and fairy tales that often intertwine with reality. For that reason, we are a proud partner on this project, and we are exceptionally pleased that Roški slap on the Krka River has been selected as the first venue of LegendFest in Šibenik-Knin County.” stated Krešimir Šakić, director of the Public Institute of Krka National Park.
“The legends and tales of the Dalmatian inland on fairies and ill-fated love, the sad father, cruel dragons and many others that arose on the banks of this magical river will again come to life in Roški slap. The pristine nature through which the Krka runs, the fairy-tale like locations of Roški slap, ‘Oziđana pećina’ cave and the old water mills are sure to make LegendFest an even more attractive event, that will enable visitors to experience the wealth of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of this region.” stated Ivor Zidarić, president of the Association Val kulture.
